Which barcode type should I use?
Code 128 is the right choice for your own items — loose goods you pack, garments, spare parts. It takes any numbers or letters, and every POS scanner reads it.
EAN-13 is the 13-digit retail code printed on packaged goods. Use it only to reprint a code a product already has. Official EAN numbers for selling to big chains are issued by GS1 Pakistan — a number you make up here is fine inside your own shop, but not for supplying other stores.
Getting labels that scan first time
- Keep codes short — 6 to 8 digits fits even a 38 mm label.
- Print at 100% scale (turn off “fit to page”).
- For a label printer, set the label size in the printer settings to match the size above.
- Use the same code in your POS item list, or the scanner will not find the item.

Yes. Code 128 and EAN-13 are standard formats read by any USB barcode scanner. Enter the same number as the item code in your software.
Can I print on a normal printer?
Yes — choose “A4 sticker sheet”. Labels are laid out on A4; ready-cut A4 sticker sheets are sold at stationery shops.
